Efflorescence

Efflorescence

The occurrence of efflorescence on the walls is caused by the crystallisation of soluble salts on the surface, which are transported by the moisture present in a wall as it moves towards the outside of the walls. This problem often causes complete degradation of the supports.

CAUSES: Very common when the surface is poorly prepared. It usually appears when there is moisture associated with relatively deep cracks in the wall.

TREATMENT: Eliminate potential infiltrations of moisture. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly, then sand it and apply a suitable primer. Finally, apply the final finishing paint.
